In celebration of the opening of Hotel Indigo
in Bintan, IHG Hotels & Resorts partnered
with Seven Clean Seas to give back to the
community and gain insight into our operations.
On September 20th 2024, a team of 20 staff
members from IHG's Singapore and Indonesia
headquarters joined our crew for a beach
cleanup, followed by a visit to our Bintan
Materials Recovery Facility.

They actively participated in facility operations,
deepening their understanding of plastic waste
management. To further commemorate
the partnership, Hotel Indigo purchased co-branded coasters for use in their hotel
restaurant, symbolising their commitment
to sustainability.

Demonstrating their dedication
to environmental stewardship, Spencer
Ogden has partnered with Seven Clean Seas
since 2021, committing to remove 1 kg
of plastic from the ocean for every
successful candidate placement. This
collaboration has resulted in the removal
of over 11,666 kg of plastic to date.

In 2024, we hosted some of their employees
for a project tour in Batam, witnessing
firsthand the impact of plastic pollution on
the local community. They engaged in beach
cleanups and learned about our innovative
recycling processes, gaining invaluable
insights into the challenges and solutions
associated with marine pollution.

Emily, our Head of Growth, delivered an
inspiring educational session titled 'How
to be a Changemaker,' emphasizing how
transparency and sustainability can
elevate brands.

She shared creative strategies to drive
real change. Following the session, 80
participants conducted a beach cleanup
at Kuta Beach, collecting 235 kg of
plastic waste and making a tangible
impact on the local environment.

with Seven Clean Seas for a significant beach
cleanup in Phuket, Thailand. On June 19, 2023,
140 Brunel staff from across Asia united
to remove over 490 kg of waste from Layan
Beach. This effort was part of their broader
sustainability journey, which also included a
previous cleanup in our project site
in Bintan, Indonesia.

Collectively, these initiatives have led
to the removal of 1,356 kg of ocean waste,
underscoring Brunel's dedication to
safeguarding marine ecosystems and
fostering sustainable behaviours
within their team.
